"Hey guys, have you heard the latest Fruit Bats album?" *ahem* Yeah, lets be honest ... I have no business saying that out loud. I'd never make it as a music snob, certainly not with a straight face.
I did notice that the band's last album (see how I didn't even try to use their name?) was listed as one of the top 10 indie albums of 2009 by indiemuse.com - the link to see what else made top 10 is here - a few that I knew, but also lots of new music to check out. We'll let indiemuse talk the talk. I just wanna listen, anyway.
This is the song that's been playing in my head (the sweet lyrics are below)
There’s a man who lives on the sun who makes it hot for everyone Make you run aground like a ship in the shallows
Make your whole heart come undone. And you come back as the soil before you come back as a soulAnd you’ll be worn away by the rain in the rivers
Before you have the chance to go to the great unknown. But you are not alone, being on your own There’s a man from the end of the world The weary weird end of the worldAnd he lost his grip on the very last clipAnd fell dreaming of his best girl And he came back as a goat before he came back as a ghostAnd he was worn away by the rain in the riversAnd he found himself on his ownBut he is not alone being on his own And there’s a light at the end of the line where everything’s divineHelp you get your grip and fly to the etherAnd you’ll finally be just fine But the man who lives in the sun has got it out for everyoneMake us run ground like ships in the shallowsMakes our whole world come undone And we’ll be on our ownBut we are not alone in being on our ownWe are not alone being on our own
